  • Notes
    • (Research):IDENTITY: Conflict/Error> Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 5 page 55 misidentifies him with his grandfather Madog who was married to Jane ferch Cynwrig.
IDENTITY: Conflict/Error> Vaughan's 'Llyfr Achau Robert Vaughan, Peniarth 287' page 385: 295C confuses him with his grandfather "Madog ap Cadwgon", thus omitting the generation of Cadwgon from the name string. This entry further confuses the problem by correctly assigning two sons, "Meurig and Madog Hyddgam", and the correct wife for this particular Madog ap Cadwgon, but then assign as child Rhiwallon who belongs to the earlier Madog ap Cadwgon.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Dwnn's 'Heraldic Visitations of Wales' volume 2 page 226 omits two generations between Madog and Cadwgon called Cadwgon ap Madog and Madog ap Cadwgon.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> J-Morris' 'Shropshire Genealogies' volume 6 page 3135 omits two generations between Madog and Cadwgon called Cadwgon ap Madog ap Cadwgon ap Bleddyn.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' pages 165 and 322 make him the son of Cadwgon ap Bleddyn, his great grandfather.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' page 374 confuses him with his grandfather Madog, and gives at least him or his grandfather 3 wives.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 5 page 64 makes him the son of Cadwgon ap Bleddyn, his great grandfather.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' pages 200 and 374 give him a daughter named Efa, then refers to page 402. There is no page 402.
KINSHIP-MARRIAGE: Conflict/Error> Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 5 pages 55 and 64 give him a wife called Efa ferch Einion ap Seisyll, Lord of Mathafarn, and then from this union a son Einion.
MARRIAGE: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' page 200 gives him two more wifes. First Jane ferch Cynwrig ap Rhiwallon, lord of Maelor Gymraeg, and second, Efa ferch Einion ap Seisyll, lord of Mathafarn.
    • PROPERTY: Lord of Nannau. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog)

REMARKS: In Wales till the middle of the 12th century individuals were styled 'Arglwydd' meaning lord or master.
