  TITLES: Prince fo South Wales. TITLES: Accession> to Cantref Mawr in 1197. (Fryde, Handbook of British Chronology, p. 52) REMARKS: The term King can be misleading. In Wales till the middle of the 12th century individuals were styled 'Brenin' meaning chief or high one, and 'Arglwydd' meaning lord or master. (Research) KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Evan's 'British Genealogist' book 2 page 24 inserts to many generations between Gruffudd and the Lord Rhys ap Gruffudd. (Research) KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' page 301 gives him a son Rhys "Fychan" then states "the last Prince of South Wales; did homage to Llewelyn ap Iorwerth, Prince of North Wales, ob. 1234." (Research) KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Evans' 'British Genealogist' book 8 page H75 gives him additional sons: Maelgwm, and Maredudd "Gethin".
