- (Research):KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' page 219 inserts an extra generation between Gruffudd "Llwyd" and Rhys called Gruffydd.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 5 page 87 gives him a daughter Mali who was married to Cadwgon "Ddû" ap Cadwgon "Gôch", Arglwydd of part of Iâl.
KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Griffith's 'Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families' page 389 gives him a daughter named Alice who was married to "Gwion Lloyd of Hendwr", but this Alice is Elsbeth who on this page has two marriages, the first to "Hugh Lloyd" (who is "Gwion Lloyd") and second "Sir David Dutton, Knt.".
- TITLES: Sir Gruffudd, a chieftain of Caernarvonshire, is said to have been the first to convey to Edward I the tidings of his Queen's accouchement in the Castle of Caernarfon, for which he received knighthood, 25 Apr 1284.

(Dwnn, Heraldic Visitations of Wales, vol. 1 p. 194 fn. 3) This not proving effectual he took arms in 1322 against the English government and, after some struggles, was taken prisoner, confined for a time at Rhuddlan, and at length executed.
