(Research) MARRIAGE: Investigate> Tresswell's 'Visitation of Shropshire' volume 29 page 304 gives his wife as Maud [de Braiose], widow of Roger Mortimer. (Research) MARRAIGE: Investigate> Evan's 'British Genealogist' book 8 page H91 makes Maud [de Braiose], widow of Roger Mortimer, the wife of Brian de Brampton (a descendant of the John "Unspace") and the mother of Margaret who married Robert de Harley. (Research) MARRIAGE: Correction> 'Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans' states he married Maud (or Matilda) daughter of William de Braiose and Bertha daughter of Milo de Gloucester. (Research) MARRIAGE: Remarks> It is highly unlikely that John de Brampton was married to Maud [de Braiose], widow of Roger Mortimer, as he was born about 1130 and she about 1230. He was supposedly her second husband as she was widow of Roger Mortimer who died in 1282. This would mean they would have been married after 1282, by which time he was probably dead. The possibility that Maud was married to Brian de Brampton is possible, but again unlikely as he was born about 1270 and they woould have had to been married while he was very young and she was very old and pass the age of childbearing. There is a John de Brampton who as grandson of the above mentioned John de Brampton who would have been born about 1230-1250 it is highly likely if she did married a "de Brampton" that it was this John and not the earlier John.
