| Notes |
- A John Barber, age 82, was living with James A. Rea and Lucinda at the Empire House Hotel in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in June of 1870 (according to the 1870 census). His birthplace was given as Virginia. There was also a John Barber living in Bath Township, Summit County, Ohio in 1840, according to the 1840 census. The 1840 census says he was 50 to 60 years old (if he was 52, then he'd have been 82 in 1870) and he had a daughter who was 10 to 15 years old (Lucinda was 11 in 1840).
ADDENDUM: As it turns out, the John Barber who lived in Bath Township is Lucinda's father, however, he was 67 (born in 1793), according to the 1860 census, in which he is shown living with one of his sons in Plymouth, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. He would have been 77 in 1870, so the John Barber who was living at the Empire House in 1870 is not Lucinda's father, but, perhaps another relative.
John and Judith appear, with daughter Lucinda, in Summit County in the 1850 census. Summit County was formed from Stark, Portage and Medina Counties in 1840.
