  The 1910 census (April 28th) shows him, age 50, living alone in Sparta, Wisconsin in a house he was renting. He was single and working as a residential carpenter. Frank was living with his niece Bernice R. (Rea) Harmeling in San Jose, California in January 1920, according to the 1920 census. He was an architect and had his office in the apartment house that Bernice managed and lived in. He was single at the time of the census. The census says his parents were born in New York. The 1930 census lists a Frank Hill, age 70, as an inmate of State Hospital, Santa Clara, California. If this is the same Frank Hill, he was probably admitted as a mental patient, possibly with senile dementia. There is no way of knowing for certain unless the institution has records back to 1930 that are publicly accessible.
